About

The story of the First Navy Divers 1972 went untold for several decades.

Why this is so remains largely a matter of conjecture and one upon which I shall not dwell.

A specialised military unit IS the sum of ALL its stories.

We are what those who came before us made us.

We are the foundation upon which those who come after us stand.

Our history is not meant to be forgotten. It must be remembered. It must be restated. Clearly. Strongly. Accurately.

As author David McCullough succinctly puts it: “History is who we are and why we are the way we are.”

In remembering our history, we understand ourselves and we help others understand us. What matters to us. How far we are willing to go to achieve our goals.

History also identifies common ground upon which we may all stand together in times of adversity.

With nothing more than a dream to become the First of the Best, a small group of magnificent men, with whom I am proud to be associated, succeeded in carving out a modest but strikingly significant place in the mammoth, prodigious and voluminous tabloid of human history.

Our story will live on in the minds and hearts of all who visit us here.

But our story isn’t over. Not yet.

Help us spread our story throughout the world so others may enjoy the adventures of the First Navy Divers 1972.

Thank you.
